One Moore Mello, a palomino filly born on September 24, 2009, at ‘Farnham’ Taroom Q, was bred and owned by Kylie Graham. She was the result of a natural service between Mello Oak and One Moore Senor, who had a successful cutting career with both Todd and Kylie. Blondie was the fifth foal Mello Oak carried naturally, and Kylie knew from the start they would stay together.
Raised with the same care as her dam and granddam, Blondie was sent to Sam Park at Eidsvold for breaking while Kylie managed the property on her own. Once home, she became a workhorse for mustering, where her natural ability quickly stood out. At just two years old, she confidently blocked troublesome cattle like a seasoned horse, proving her strong instincts and desire to work.
Recognizing her talent, Kylie sent her to Jason McClurg in Tamworth to prepare for the NCHA Futurity. Jason confirmed her potential, but a hock injury from a fence accident set back her training. Despite this, she still made it to the 2013 NCHA & DDCC Futurities. In 2014, she moved to Phil Dawson’s barn, where she placed in numerous cutting events, including 3rd in the NCHA Comet Derby. Kylie also successfully competed with her in Non-Pro events.
Wanting to try campdrafting, Kylie gave Blondie a break from cutting before starting her in drafts in 2017. She immediately showed talent both in the camp and on course, reminding Kylie of her grandmother, One Moore Spin, with her strong cattle sense and athleticism. Together, they have won drafts and cutouts across the country. Kylie believes that in more competitive hands, Blondie could have achieved even more, but she treasures the journey they’ve shared.
Alongside her competition career, Blondie has been a valuable broodmare, producing 10 Embryo Transfer foals with three more on the way. She has been easy to work with reproductively, ensuring her legacy continues.
