The story begins with his dam, a mare Terry and Liz purchased through the NCHA Sale for $20,000 while carrying a foal by Tapt Dancin Cat. What started as a broodmare investment quickly developed into one of the most successful breeding decisions they have made. Since joining their program, the mare has produced an exceptional line of progeny by leading sires including Metallic Cat, EB's Phalaris, Heavy Metal, Smooth Talkin Style, Third Edge, MVP, Rollz Royce, Badboonarising and others. Her offspring continue to attract significant attention, with Terry and Liz regularly approached by buyers hoping to secure any future progeny from the mare.
The mare's influence continues to be felt across multiple disciplines. Her descendants are currently competing and developing throughout Australia's performance horse industry. Spin One Time remains in competition with Coralie Daley, a Heavy Metal filly is campaigned by Demi Betteni, a Smooth Talkin Style filly sold through the Nutrien Sale for $30,000 into a campdraft performance home, while a Rollz Royce gelding is currently in training with Todd Graham and being aimed at the NCHA Futurity. Another descendant, Time For Phlair, by EB's Phalaris, is currently competing with Danny Fitzgerald in the cutting pen, while a Third Edge filly is preparing to commence her performance career.
When Badboon Time arrived, Terry and Liz immediately knew he was something special. As the only colt they have ever retained entire from this exceptional mare, the decision to keep him a stallion was not taken lightly. From an early age he displayed the conformation, athleticism and natural movement they believed could make him a standout performer across multiple disciplines.
His pedigree only strengthened that belief. By Badboonarising and carrying elite maternal influences on both sides of his pedigree, Badboon Time combines two of the most influential female families available. His sire traces back to the legendary American producer Show Biz Kitty, while his dam descends from One Moore Spin, one of Australia's most respected and successful producers. The strength of these maternal bloodlines provided Terry and Liz with every reason to allow him the opportunity to prove himself both as a performer and a future sire.
Badboon Time was started under saddle by Ben O'Reilly before entering training with Tyler Hodgman, where he completed his two-year-old cutting program. The partnership quickly showed promise, culminating in a Futurity Final appearance at St George in 2025. His progress continued throughout 2026, recording a second-place finish in the PVCC Open Derby Cutting at Armidale before backing it up with another second-place finish in the Open Cutting at Scone.
Today, Badboon Time continues his cutting career under the guidance of Tyler Hodgman at Bloom Performance Horses in Kootingal, New South Wales. Terry and Liz's ambition is to see him progress through the aged event ranks while maintaining his soundness, happiness and longevity as a performance stallion. While an aged event victory would be a welcome achievement, their primary goal is to showcase the athletic ability, trainability and versatility they believe will become his greatest assets as a sire.
Looking to the future, the plan is for Badboon Time to eventually transition into the campdraft arena following his cutting career, further demonstrating his versatility and broad appeal within the Australian performance horse industry. Terry and Liz hope to see him continue his career with a leading Queensland campdraft trainer when the time is right, although who that may be remains to be seen.
Adding to the excitement surrounding the young stallion, Badboon Time is expecting his first foals in the spring of 2026. These highly anticipated babies will be the first Australian progeny from crosses involving a Reyn Storm x Docs Spinifex mare and a Halls According x Halls Deelux Play mare. Terry and Liz are eagerly awaiting their arrival, with plans potentially forming around retaining the Quarter Horse-bred foal while offering the Stock Horse-bred youngster to the market. As with all great horses, however, the final decisions will be made once the foals arrive and reveal their own unique potential.
In 2026, Badboon Time enters another exciting chapter as he stands available to the public for the first time. Standing at Carmyle Veterinary Services in Quirindi, New South Wales, he offers breeders an opportunity to access a young stallion backed by generations of proven mare power, emerging performance credentials and a bright future both in competition and as a sire.
