Purchased by Sheree Pratt at the 2023 Nutrien Classic Sale as a three-year-old for $55,000, Oberne Spinnastorm has proven to be a carefully considered investment backed by experience, horsemanship, and long-term performance planning.
Prior to the sale, Spinnastorm was prepared and trained by professional horseman Morgan Webb, who had already identified her as a standout prospect within the draft. Following discussions around Sheree’s mares program and her future performance ambitions, Morgan strongly encouraged the purchase, recognising the mare’s natural ability, trainability, and cow sense. From the moment of purchase, Spinnastorm has been campaigned and managed by Morgan and Emma Webb on Sheree’s behalf.
Sheree took a hands-on approach throughout the sale process, spending time assessing horses, watching them through the stables and observing their pre-work performances. After careful consideration, she identified Spinnastorm as the right fit for her program and moved forward with confidence to secure the mare.
Sired by Yaven Spinnaker and out of Topend Image, a heritage Stock Horse mare, Spinnastorm carries a pedigree suited to both performance and versatility. Originally broken in by Lincoln Smith, she quickly progressed into Morgan’s program, where her natural ability became evident. From her earliest introduction to cattle, she showed strong instinct, lightness of foot, and genuine enthusiasm for the job. A deliberate foundation program was implemented to allow her to develop strength, balance, and confidence in front of cattle.
Spinnastorm has since built a strong and consistent record across both Challenge and Campdrafting. She is a two-time Nutrien Classic Challenge Finalist (2024 and 2025), placed in the 2025 Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge Derby, and was also a 2024 Cloncurry Classic Challenge Finalist. In Campdrafting, she has continued her upward trajectory, highlighted by being a 2026 Nutrien Classic Open Campdraft Finalist, a 2025 Tumut Show Novice Campdraft Winner, and placing in the 2025 Cloncurry Open Campdraft.
Her greatest strength lies in her consistency and willingness to work. Week after week, she presents with the same attitude and tries her best regardless of the draw. Her fast, efficient footwork allows her to stay with cattle and maintain position, giving her the opportunity to produce competitive scores when conditions allow. Now successfully competing in Novice and Open company, she is continuing to develop into a reliable and competitive Open-level mare.
Looking ahead, Spinnastorm also holds strong value within Sheree’s breeding program. She is currently being incorporated into embryo transfer work with the aim of producing future performance horses to strengthen the mare band. Morgan and Emma believe she will be an exceptional producer, passing on her trainability, cow sense, and athletic ability.
Spinnastorm will continue her campaign with Morgan and Emma through the 2026 season, with the goal of further developing her into a finished Open Campdraft mare. At the completion of this final campaign year, she will return home to Sheree, where she will begin her next chapter as both a performance and breeding mare within Sheree’s growing program.
